"safe room" principles and emergency planning, discouraging thieves, preventing unauthorized use of home firearm, controlling confrontations, awareness mindset, use of cover & concealment, proper interaction with the police after an incident, and basic personal protection shooting techniques & skill development,  Students will need a pistol (9mm caliber or greater), 150 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), and a positive attitude.  Upon successfully passing this course, including knowledge exam and shooting drills, students will meet NRA Personal Protection in the Home national standards and will earn an official certificate of completion.  Approximately 8 hours including live fire training.

This objective-based course explores important concealed carry concepts including how to develop a defensive mindset, cover & concealment principles, holstering options for maximum efficiency, concealed carry laws, how to travel with your firearm, when you can shoot for protection of self and others, proper interaction with the police after an incident, aftermath preparation, basic tactical reloading & defensive shooting drills.  Required prerequisites must be completed prior to taking this course.  Students will need a pistol (9mm caliber or greater), 250 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), hip or appendix  holster, snap caps, 2 extra magazines, and a positive attitude.  Upon successfully passing this course, including knowledge exam and shooting drills, students will meet NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home national standards and will earn an official certificate of completion.  Approximately 14 hours including live fire training.

This objective-based class explores the 3 Rules of Safe Gun Handling, primary causes of firearm accidents, how to safely unloading and make safe a variety firearm types, identifying and handling ammunition, and safe storage options. NRA Defensive Pistol is an in-person advanced level course that extends the student's knowledge beyond basic pistol safety and personal protection concepts to apply advanced defensive shooting strategies. This objective-based course includes challenging range drills, one and two handed shooting, shooting in-motion and in low-light conditions (when available), awareness and mental preparation development, using a backup firearm, reloading under stress and when injured, emergency clearance of stoppages, and advanced strategies for more effective personal defense and survival.  Required prerequisites must be completed prior to taking this course.  Students will need a pistol (9mm caliber or greater), 300 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), hip or appendix  holster, snap caps, 2 extra magazines, and a positive attitude.  Upon successfully passing this course, including knowledge exam and advanced shooting drills, students will meet NRA Defensive Pistol national standards and will earn an official certificate of completion.  Approximately 6 hours including live fire training.  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.

NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) certification was developed in response to the demand for a nationally-recognized range safety officers.  NRA Range Safety Officers possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.  This includes conducting range inspections, enforce range rules, clear stoppages and malfunctions, conduct safety briefings, and understand and control emergency procedures.  This objective based class is highly recommended for all firearms instructors, range personnel, gun club volunteers, and gun shop staff.  Students must pass their Range Safety Officer exam with a 90% or better in order to earn their official NRA certification rating.  Approximately 9 hours (non-shooting course).  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.

 

*This is course is also a prerequisite for NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO)  Instructor Certification (see the "Instructor Certification" page for more information).

Pistol 3 is an advanced level course for experienced pistol students who want to increase their defensive shooting skills.  Defensive Shooting & Reloading goes BEYOND " the Basics" to include personal defense strategies to more effectively protect yourself and increase survival during a shooting encounter.  Includes transitioning quickly and easily from different stances for rapid and accurate shooting results, introduction to shooting "on-the-move", two and one handed speed reloading, using a secondary firearm for backup, review of judicial use of a firearm for self-defense (consult an attorney for legal interpretation of the law).  Course is taught by a certified instructor.  Students will need a primary defense pistol (9mm caliber or greater), 300 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), hip or appendix  holster, snap caps, 3  magazines, quick loader, and a positive attitude.  Approximately 5  hours including live fire training.  *Must be 21 or older.  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.

Course Overview

Pistol 101 is part of Level 1's Women Only Workshops (WOW).  This is a beginner level class designed for ladies with limited firearms experience.  The courses is taught by a female certified  instructor and explores women specific firearm  concepts (sorry guys...you're not allowed!)..  Students learn safe gun handling, maintenance, and shooting in a casual "fear-free" environment.  This course uses hands-on instruction, visual presentations, expert lectures, and fun range drills to enhance the learning experience.  Continued opportunities for skill development will be discussed.  Students will need a pistol (.22 caliber or greater), 100 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), and a positive attitude.  Approximately 7 hours including live fire training.  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.

Rifle 1: Beginner Rifle or equivalent

Course Overview

Riffle Level  2 is a class for those who have taken a beginner level rifle class and are ready to take their skills to the next level. Getting On Target is a skill development course. Advanced monitoring technology and proven training techniques are used to assess student shooting skills, increase accuracy, and grow in confidence.  Students who complete this course will shoot an average of 50% more accurately and will be better prepared to take courses more advanced classes like Rifle 3: Marksmanship.  Classes are taught by certified instructors.  Continued opportunities for skill development will be discussed.  Students will need a rifle (.22 caliber or greater), 200 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), and a positive attitude.  Approximately 6 hours including live fire training.  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.

Rifle Level 3 is for experienced students who have take Rifle 1 and Rifle 2 courses and want to further develop their marksmanship skills.  Marksmanship goes BEYOND "the Basics" and includes advanced  strategies for quicker target acquisition and shooting accuracy and offers challenging drills to test your skills.  Students who complete this course will be better prepared to take more advanced rifle courses in the future or participate in challenges like the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program.  Courses are taught by certified instructors.  Students will need a rifle (.22 caliber or greater), 300 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), and a positive attitude.  Approximately 5 hours including live fire training.  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.

AR-15  ll is a specialty course for experienced students who have attended the AR-15 l and Rifle Level 2, and want to build on their basic and intermediate rifle knowledge and skills to encompass personal defense strategies,  Home Defense introduces students to the judicial use of an AR-15 rifle for home and personal defense.  Students will be put through a series of challenging shooting drills to further develop defensive skills for increased survival during a shooting encounter.  Course is taught by a certified instructor.  Continued opportunities for skill development will be discussed.   Students will need an AR-15 platform rifle (.22 caliber or greater), 300 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), 3 magazines, and a positive attitude.  Approximately 5 hours including live fire training.
